Keep your make up brushes clean

We all should know that dirty make up brushes are unhygienic and definitely not good to be used on any skin.
Brushes should be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid build up of products and most importantly to avoid germs and bacteria.
These are major problems as it will cause rashes, blocked pores, pimples, etc.

This might sound like a mission to do every time, but the brushes will last much longer and you won't have to spend money buying new ones.

So, this is how you should treat your brushes....

Items to get:

Paper toweling
alcohol ( diluted ) in a spray bottle
brush cleaner
mild shampoo & conditioner
savlon
face towel
bowl
warm water

Brushes should be wiped clean after every make up application:

Use diluted alcohol or brush cleaner ( most make up counters should sell this) to clean.
Decant solution into a small travel size spray bottle.
Spray brushes with the solution when done with application.
Lay paper towel flat on surface and gentle wipe both sides of saturated brushes on the towel. Repeat until brushes are clean.
Reshape the brushes  into their original shape with your finger tips and lay them flat on a face towel.

Wash the brushes properly once a week:

Fill a bowl with warm water, add o blob of shampoo and mix. dip the brush and gently swirl. ( dip only the head of the brush and avoid inserting the metal or handle. The glue will not dissolve or painted handle will not start chipping)
Run clean water through the hair of the brush.
Repeat the process but instead of adding shampoo into warm water, mix conditioner.
Dip brushes and rinse in clean water.
Squeeze excess water, gently pat dry on towel.
Reshape the head of the brushes into the original shape and lay them flat on a towel until dry.
DO NOT position the wet brushes upright in a jar or glass, This will loosen the glue around the hair bundle.

For synthetic brushes and emollient based product:

Synthetic brushes are normally used to apply creams or emollient based products.
Normal shampoo does not dissolve or clean brushes properly.
The following needs to be done:
Pour a little undiluted alcohol into a petry dish and dip synthetic hair into alcohol. Gently wipe clean on a paper towel. Alcohol will evaporate quickly and brush will dry in no time.

To wash the product off, the following should be done:

Add liquid dish wash soap into palm of hand and wipe synthetic brushes into soap. Rinse in warm water.
Reshape and lay on towel to dry.

HOW TO WEAR A SUIT POCKET HANDKERCHIEF

Wearing a handkerchief used to be a thing of the past and you only saw older business men wearing them. Now times have changed and it is quite fashionable these days for any guy to wear a colourfull hanky in his pocket.
For those men who are raising an eyebrow, it is definitely not considered a femenine touch at all.
Think of it as elegant and tasteful.

Below are just a few examples of how to fold a hanky.

This folding method, I would wear with a more casual suit. Add a touch of colour to a linen, loose suit by adding this casual fold.

Where a the hem of your pants should sit.

I often see and wonder whether men know how to dress accordingly, espacially when it comes to the lengths of pants/ trousers.
Let me start off by saying that it depends on whether it is casual, formal or high fashion items.
The width of the bottom lenght of the pants/trouser is also very important.

Take for instance a wide trouser leg ( like in the 70's), that sits as high as your ankle. That will just look ridiculous, unless it's high fashion with a statement....and the right shoes/boots!

So, the wider the bottom of your pants, the longer you wear it, never allowing the hem to sweep the floor!

The narrower the bottom of your pants, the higher you can go. No rule in how high, but depending on the style and/or if it's a high fashion item.

The rule for formal trousers:
This applies to straight legs in trousers.
The hem should be about 1 - 2cm above the heel of your shoes.
The front of the leg will make a small break, which means it will have a slight fold.
The modern formal trouser ( like in the 60's), has got a tighter leg and  tapered at the bottom, which means that the hem will sit higher at the back of the heel of your shoes.
The break in front of your trouser will be more, but that is how it should sit.  There should be one or two folds, but that's it! The right shoe should be worn with these pants.

More casual or fashionable pants can have slightly more folds.......

Concealors

Have you ever had a problem with your cream concealor in winter?
They normally tend to go hard and are not very user friendly.
All you have to do is blow heat from a hairdryer over the product for just a few seconds, taking care not to melt the cream. It still needs to be solid, but soft enough to be applied.
Use your concealor brush to lightly mix and it's ready to use.

Long Lasting Eye liners:

Ever wished that your eye liner never smudged or faded?

Well, I am revealing the secret!

  • Firstly, don't apply any eye creams or concealor close to your bottom lashes. Any emollients will be the cause of liners moving and fading.
  • Take your sharpened and clean eye pencil.
  • place the pencil in between your bottom lash hairs and wiggle until the colour transfers onto your skin.
  • You can do this from the outside corner to the centre of the eye.
  • Take a small eye shadow brush and start blending by wiping or stroke movement. Start from the outer corner and work your way to the inner corner. remember that the colour must fade away as you get to the inner corner.
  • When that is done, take the brush and dip it in a powder eye shadow, same colour as pencil.
  • Dab along the lower lash line, over the pencil line. Again, start from the outer corner and work just past the centre, towards the inner corner.
  • With a clean brush, dip in a powder eye shadow highlighter and dab and blend from inner corner towards centre. Refer to picture.
  • To finish the look, line the inside or the rim with a black eye pencil.
  • The wax of the pencil will absorb the powder eye shadow. This will set the pencil and as a result, will last longer and won't move or fade!
KEEP  PRACTISING!

I always read and hear about lipsticks that don't last, fade quickly or transfers on coffee cups, etc.

Any lipstick, especially a creamy one, will transfer onto the rim of your cup/glass when you are drinking. That is just a fact and there is really nothing you can do about it.
Why not rather try a matte lipstick, lip crayon or eve just a lip pencil?
Any product that is matte and waxy will stay on your lips for much longer. Well,  your lips will feel a bit tight  and dry .
Keep in mind that ANY product that you apply prior to your lip colour, like a lip conditioner will be the result of your lip colour not lasting or transferring.
Anything that you apply over the lip colour, like a gloss, will make the colour last longer, but you will still get a transfer on your cup.
Tricky, isn't it!
So, Keep layering you lip colour and you will have a stain left by the end of the day.
What I mean:-
Colour in your lips with a lip pencil or crayon.
Over this, you can apply your favourite lips stick if you want to, but not necessary.
Finish with  a LITTLE gloss, for shine (If shine is what you are looking for, but just a LITTLE)
The gloss will transfer or eventually disappear, but you will be left with stain on your lips.

OH, and remember, don't eat or lick your lips. Your colour will come off.
