How to apply metallic eye shadows

Here is a selection of sponge tipped applicators that is essential to use when applying metallic eye shadows.
The sponge lifts the powder and prevents it from falling all over eye area.

The best product to use in order to achieve a high shine, metallic finish, is a loose powder or pigment.

The best way to ensure that the powder or pigment adheres to the eyes is to use a gel liner or under make up base.

To achieve this look, apply the under make up base or gel liner onto the eyelid. This area is where you want the most metallic product and shine.
Dip the one side of the sponge applicator into the pigment pot  and apply on lid by dabbing. Do not wipe or paint across the lid. By dabbing, you will get a rich and even application of the product.
Use a blending brush to blend the product into the crease and slightly above the crease onto the brow bone. Keep in mind that you do not want to much metallic on the brow bone.
With an elongated, round eye shadow brush, apply a dark brown or bronze, starting at the outer eye corner and move along the crease into the inner corner. Make sure that this is well blended and not a definite line.
Finish your look be applying two coats of mascara.

If you want to brighten your eyes or just have a natural look, use a light shade or one close to your skin tone. Maybe opt for a tan, ivory, cream or rosy colour.
Apply as above without the application of the darker shade.
Bring the colour around, into the inner bottom lash line.
Apply mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

How to wear a high heeled sandal.

Woman love shoes and will kill to have a beautiful high heeled sandal that is a current trend for the season.
Some don't even care whether it fits properly or whether they can walk in them. As long as they have a collection of shoes to wear for the season.
How to choose a good heeled sandal that won't be the cause of a twisted ankle or even a broken foot.
The hight of the heel does not matter, as long as you do not walk on uneven pavements or on cobble stones.
The secret is to find a pair of sandals with a good heel and ankle support.
Below are examples of  sandals with no heel support at all. You will never get the right balance in these and this might cause a major accident. The heel will move from side to side therefore not giving a stable platform to stand on. These aren't made for dancing!

The following below are just the right designs for keeping those heels in place. The back panel hold the heels in one place and the strap/straps around the front helps the feet from slipping or moving forward. The more straps the sandal has, the better support you will get.

Metal Versus Plastic

This topic is about what type of sunglass frames to choose when buying a new pair. We just love the aviator sunglasses with it's metal frames, but is it wise to wear them in the sun, especially when you will be outdoors for the whole day.
Well the fact is that metal frames normally will irritate the skin around the eyes and might even cause a rash.
The sun also heats up the metal and this can cause burn marks on the sensitive skin around the eye area.

There are fantastic plastic frames in the same shape as metal frames. The plastic will not heat up and also not cause any damage to the skin.

Now this is up to you to decide. Do you follow fashion and don't really care what it does to your skin?
Or, do you follow fashion. but choose an alternative in order to protect your skin?

Make a wise decision when purchasing your next sunglasses. You only have one skin.

Plus size make over

Before picture:
The horizontal line across the bust is unflattering to large breasts. The flab under the arm pits tend to buldge out of the garment. Shoulders normally look out of proportion in comparison to chest.
The yellow waist band makes the waist seem larger.
Before

After Picture:
I changed the straight line into a low.V-neck line. Show a bit of cleavage.
I the took the yellow waist band off and added a darker colour. This also elongates the upper torso and does not add attention to the waist.
To finish the look and detract the eyes from the bulkiness of the breasts, I added junky necklace.
I also changed the colour of the shoes to black.
after

The picture below:
Before:
This before style just does not make any sense, especially the half cloth/cloak hanging from her waist down.
Her loose top just makes her breasts hang and it seems that she has a tummy. The shoulders look small and rounded in comparison to the rest of her body.
The flat shoes make her feet even more puffier ( no no to porky feet).
After:
This is what I did to make her figure look proportionate;
First of all, I added cap sleeves. Her shoulders look mush better and adds width to them.
I then changed her top into a more fitted style and extended below the waistline. She now has a waist!
I removed the batman cloak and added some thick vertical stripes to her skirt. I the made it slightly longer, just on her knees.
Look at her feet!!!!!
By adding a heeled peep toe shoe, her feet immediately looks longer and thinner.

Doesn't the shape look much better.
Beautiful, elegant and curvy!!!!!!

Trendy Day Look

Picture on the left:

So you  want to look fashionable and wear current trends?
LOOSE the leather skirt. Leather is heavy and thick, so, just see what it does when it is gathered!
The new skirt is made of crispy and thinner fabric. High waisted and box pleats will hide the tummy. Wear a thin dark belt as an accessory.
Loose the choker. This makes the neck even thicker. With a slanted neckline, I would rather not wear anything around the neck. Try a flower or a bulky brooch on the strap.

Picture on the right:

Over sized girls don't wear tight mini skirts!!!
Rather opt for something flowy and knee length.
Wrap a dark belt around your waist. This will give you at least a shape'
LOOSE the Mc Donalds logo on the bag!!!!
It might look matchy matchy, but I think this works with the sandals and bag in the same colour.

Be glamorous and beautiful

Picture on the left:

If I was in a club and saw this dress, I would think that the breasts were showing.
If you have big breasts, don't accentuate it more by creating a design like this, especially when using a lighter colour around the chest area.
Change that area to black and add a bit of softness with cap sleeves made with chiffon.

Picture on the right:

Wear this if you are going to a halloween fancy dress party.
The bubble skirt just does not work on big girls and the boobs look like a gigantic black bow.
I changed the style into a black V-neck top.
I removed the pleats around the waist and added 2 layers of pleated fabric across one bust panel.
I then added a black waist band.
The bottom of the skirt I flared out.

Now, the top and bottom of the dress is balanced and the black waist band makes the middle thinner.
The pleats across the breast takes away attention from the large breasts.

Plus Size Woman

The following topic on what to wear when you are a plus size, is only an indication and my personal opinion on what plus size woman should wear and what would look best. Pictures have been cropped and modified in order to show different designs of suitable clothing.

Firstly, lets talk about faux pas or rather what not to wear when you are a plus size.
Fashion designers normally design clothes specifically for very thin and tall woman, like the models you see on the catwalk. Everything they put on and combine always look great! The fact is that not every woman is able to wear these items.
The picture above gives good examples what not to wear.
DO NOT wear tight clothing. You are NOT a size 6!
DO NOT wear too big and too loose tops or your partner's t-shirts. This makes you look out of proportion and frumpy.
DO NOT wear too tight or too short skirts if you have big thighs.

The following will give you a better perspective on what to choose and still look fashionable.
Wear tops that are a little more fitted around the bust area and let is flow below the bust line.
If you prefer to wear a t-shirt, combine this with a flared top.
Capri pants/ above the ankle pants, look great with a bit of a heel. This gives an illusion of elongated legs.
If you are going to opt for tights, wear a longer top that will hide all the flaws.

Hide those rolls!

These examples above are great ideas to keep in mind when shopping for clothes.
If you have a tummy, remember to try clothes with details around the waist.
Choose soft frills, slight gathers, wrap around looks great!
DO NOT wear a belt if you have a very big tummy. This accentuates it more. Try clothes with dark patterns around the belly.
Always remember that the top or dress must fit loosely around those areas.

Body Shapers

When I say body shapers, I mean shaping your body by working with two colours and shapes in your outfits.
Dresses with different panels are great to mould the shape of your body.

These give an illusion of hour glass bodies.
It takes the emphasis away from the bigger parts of your body.

Stripes

When choosing stripes, go for vertical, diagonal, slanted.... instead of horizontal stripes.
If you do buy a top with horizontal stripes, try to wear an over garment of one solid colour over the stripes.

Diagonal stripes

Horizontal stripes

Break the stripes by wearing a solid colour over the stripes.

 Vertical lines

I love medium to thicker stripes for bigger woman. Thin stripes does not do much justice to the shape.
Remember only to accentuate your waist when you DO HAVE ONE. If you have a slight belly, move the belt just below your bust line or between your waist and bust line.
Cap sleeves are great. This style broadens and covers the shoulder slightly, giving the upper body a triangular shape. What I am trying to say is that the balance between the shoulders and the hips will be the same.

Horizontal and vertical lines

This style is great when your upper body is much bigger than your bottom.
The dark stripes will narrow the chest area.
If your waist is extra small, the white belt will broaden the waist.
If you have a tummy, the thicker, darker lines will hide that area, while the thinner lines and flared hem will broaden the bottom.
These effects will give you the illusion of a perfect hour glass shape.

Unstructured Jackets/cardigans

I call these items, unstructured,as it is not fitted or of similar shape on both sides.
The centre front is cut into a block. It falls loosely into a soft frill, detracting the eyes from any flaws.
Great to hide large chests.

In order to look good, is all about creating ILLUSIONS.
The secret is to shape your body into an hour glass. Obviously, you will still look big, but more voluptuous and sexy.
Try chunky jewellery.
Dark/neutral colours over too light and bright colours. Bright colours in accessories work well.
The overall look should be 10% colour and the rest in neutral. This is if you are colour blocking.
Keep in mind that white / light colours, enlarges and black / dark colours, diminishes.
Try wear high heels, as this elongates your legs and makes you walk taller and with more confidence.

Before and After soon to follow.

There are so many different ways of curling your hair.
Depending on the look that you want to achieve and also it is important to take the length of your hair in consideration.
For extra volume or if you want a voluminous 80's hairdo, the best way is to wind your hair in curlers. The bigger the curler, the less curl you will have. Small curlers give a tight effect.
Be aware which curler you use for longer hair. The best is to use curlers with a smooth surface or velcro rollers otherwise your hair will get stuck into the roller and you will struggle to remove them.

I love working with hair tongs, as it gives different styles and I can wind it as I wish suitable.
I can create soft flowy hair with a large size curler or a natural wave with a medium and tight curls with a smallish tong.
Here are just some tongs that you can find.

This one is very easy to use if you are doing your hair yourself.
Wind around for a curl or twist around for a wave.

I like using this big curler for volume or big loose curls.

This curler i use for tighter curls or to style short hair.

This is a great invention if you want waves in long hair or if you want to style a bob into a 20's hair style!

Plaits / braids are so very popular for the season.
There are so many different ways to do this. It can be worn very loose and casual or neat and formal.
It doesn't need to be a bohemian fashion, as it looks great with any look.
This is just a few great images for these looks.
