The colour Yellow
Now, who can wear yellow as a colour.....
Yes, anyone can, but depends on what yellow you choose.
People who have a light complexion, normally blondes look great in pastel or light yellow.
Redheads look the best with yellows of all shades, such as burnt yellow, bright yellow, egg yolk yellow and even yellow green, etc, etc, etc....
I love yellow ochre, as I have an olive skin tone, but only when I have a tan though....

Trends for Spring/Summer 2011
So, I have been doing some research on trends for our Spring / Summer and I find that it is a kaleidoscope of different fashion trends and colours.
The trends stretch from taking elements from the 50's up to the 70's.
The elegance of Audrey Hepburn in the 50's.
The capri pants from the 60's
Long flowing glamorous styles from the 70's and not to forget the punk influence.
Colours are bright, sheer or just the on going neutral shades....
Orange is one of the strong key colours for summer.
At Inlot Cosmetics, we are very big on colour, whether it's eyes, lips or nails....we even have a big range of colourful false eyelashes.......
So, for your hot oranges, tangerines, lemon yellows, greens and turqoises.....come to one of our stores and play......

Smokey eyes
I have seen horrific smokey eyes done by some so called 'top make up artists'.
Your eyes should not look like panda eyes, but have a soft, airbrushed finish, whether you use one colour or more.
The whole idea is to blend your eyeshadows, with appropriate eye make up brushes.
Start with dark colour, on the top lash line, medium colour on eyelid and the blend with soft blending brush upwards , midway to brow bone. Accentuate the outer corners of eyes by darkening and blending. Finish the look by adding a soft highlighter on browbone and inner corner of eyes.
The only way to master this look is to practice your blending techniques.

Estee Lauder Double wear
I learned today that the double wear foundation, from estee lauder, is not as thick as what people claim it to be. It is how you apply the foundation, like any other......
Why do woman walk around wearing a mask on their faces? and why did I skip this one?.......

Acidic levels of your skin....
Did you know if your acidic level of your skin is strong, the colour of your foundation, lipstick and even eye shadow might change to a darker shade.....
'Dewy look'
did you know that..if you don't like the 'dewy' look foundation, because you are scared that you might look like you came out of an oil pot, you can apply a matte finish foundation and use a soft highlighter to accentuate only certain areas of your face.....

How to .......
Did you know that if you use a soft white eye pencil over your eyelid and then brush a colour eyeshadow over, the colour will pop. In other words, the colour will be much brighter!
Pencil sharpeners
Did you know that in order to have a perfect sharpened eye pencil or lip pencil, you have to buy the right sharpeners.
A normal pencil sharpener is made for lead pencils only and not for cosmetic pencils. They are manufactured differently. Your eye/lip pencil will never sharpen properly and will break.

The Royal Wedding
The Guests:
Most unusual hats of all sizes embellished with feathers and flowers. The hats are mostly worn on the side of the head.
Fabric colours range from nudes, shades of greys to soft pastels and some woman are dressed in jewel colours. Lots of blue in all shades has been spotted.
Textures in satin, silks , taffeta and knits.
The hair looked very natural in soft waves or curls , swept to the one side or just hanging straight.
Make up was done very natural with nudes and soft pinks on lips. Soft smokey eyes was popular amongst some of the younger woman.
The Bride, Catherine Middleton:
Classic, Princes Grace style , intricate lace top over strapless, sweetheart bust line dress made of satin in cream and white. Deep pleats around waist, flowing softly onto floor. A 2 metre long train. Rounded at bottom to add softness is attached to the back waist into a folded peplum. Designed by Sarah Burton.
Her hair has a side parting and pinned back on both sides. The hair hangs loose at the back with soft waves.
Her lip colour is a natural, soft pink with a touch of gloss. The cheeks are contoured in pink blush. Her eyelids are shaded with a satin textured eye shadow in a natural shade to give a softly sheen. A darker eye shadow was lightly brushed into the crease, to define the eyes, but still keeping the look soft and natural. The eyes are lined with black eye pencil.

Great tip for longer wearing red lips:
Get the lip shape by lining the lips with a matte lip pencil. Make sure that the lip pencil is the same colour as your lipstick.
Fill in by colouring the lips with the same pencil.
Apply an even colour of a matte lipstick with a lip brush over the coloured lip. Matte lipstick always lasts longer than a cream lipstick and does not smudge as easily.
Finish off by applying a sheer layer of lip gloss, in the same colour as your lipstick. Concentrate more on applying the gloss on the fuller part of your bottom lip.
Avoid applying gloss to the edges of your lips.
Press lips together to spread the gloss.
With your fingertip, make sure that the product is well blended.

INGLOT MASCARA
Great mascara to use..... The comb applicator seperates the eyelashes while combing on colour and at the same time, lengthening. The advantage of the brush is that you can get colour close to the lashline, where as with other shaped brushes, the roots always stay without mascara. Another advantage is that when the mascara is finished, you can keep the brush and use it as a brow comb!

Denim Story
Denim has been around for years and is still the most favoured trends all around the world. Inglot Cosmetics SA has decided to put a make up story together and it's all about shades of blues. In the 50's, blue was applied on the lids. In the 70's, a wash of blue eyeshadow was applied on the whole eye area. In the 80's, shades of blue were used and blended well into each other to achieve a smokey look. Now in 2011, we have so many different looks that we can achieve, using blue colour. Here are a few ideas on eye looks: 1. Use blue eye pencil or eye gel and line the top eye lid. For a glamour look, apply sparkles over the product. Finish look with mascara on eye lashes. 2. Line the inner lash line with a dark blue pencil and fill the outer corners with a dark blue eyeshadow and blend inwards, to create a smokey look. finish with a lighter blue on the rest of the eyelid. Add lots of mascara in black or navy blue. 3. With a medium, soft eye shadow brush, apply light blue pearl / sparkly eye shadow, over entire eye area. This will give you a wash of colour. Finish look by accentuating the eye brow and applying mascara on eye lashes. 4. For a dramatic, abstract look, paint a bright blue colour, using eye gel, on whole eye lid. Apply false lashes and finish with a layer of mascara. 5. Apply neutral / skin tone colour over eye lids. Build up eye lashes with blue mascara. Finish look by applying sparkles or glitter on tips of eyelashes, while mascara is still wet. 6. Brush powder eyeshadow over eye lids and finish look by applying gloss over the powder. Sticky but stunning glossy look!!

Truth about make up...
The great thing about make up is that you can adapt to different looks/trends and if it does'nt look good, just wipe/wash it of !!
Can't say the same thing about permanent make up. It might look great when your skin is young and firm, but what will happen when your skin starts sagging and wrinkles up?
Do a lot of research about permanent make up before attempting to have it done and look for a reputable artist to do it.

Twitter Queens of Cosmo
I had the opportunity to meet and do make up on the 'twitter queens' of Cosmopolitan magazine.
I used Inglot make up and the girls looked great and they were very happy with the outcome.
Pity the studio was so hot and there was no aircon. We were all dripping of sweat!!!!

Luscious lips
long lasting eye make up
Mixing of Inglot duraline and gel liner, makes a fantastic base colour for our pigments. Use gel liner, no 89, mixed with a drop of duraline. Apply on eye lids of , working on one eye at a time, as gel dries very fast.
Apply pigment no 82 over the gel liner, on the eye lid, using a small brush. I like using brush no 13p.
When both lids are done, use a bigger, fluffy brush and blend over the whole eye, up to brow bone, in circular movements.
The result......
An intense shimmery/metalic pink on lid, blended into fine sparkles over the whole eye, with a browny/grey undertone!
Great for a glamour evening look!
